Quick answer: Your distance filter only applies to your main swiping feed. Profiles in Explore and Most Eligible are not based on your location or your distance filters, so they can be any distance away.
- Liked Me, Explore, and Most Eligible ignore your filters — those feeds are never limited by location or distance.
- They may be traveling near you — distance is based on your device's GPS location, so a member visiting your area shows up as nearby.
- They may be using Passport — a First Class feature that lets members swipe anywhere in the world. Their profile says "Active near you."
- To change your range — tap the menu, select "Filters," and adjust the distance slider.
If a profile in your swiping feed looks like it falls outside the distance you set, there are usually two explanations — and a third that isn't about distance at all.
They may be traveling near you
Distance filters are based on your device's GPS location, so if you're seeing a profile outside your filter range, it's likely they're near your location right now — perhaps traveling for business or vacation.
They may be using Passport
Passport is a First Class feature that lets members change their location and swipe anywhere in the world. Those profiles will say "Active near you."
Liked Me, Explore, and Most Eligible aren't based on distance
Your distance filter only applies to your main swiping feed. Profiles in Liked Me, Explore, and Most Eligible are not based on your location or your distance filters, so they can be any distance away.
How to adjust your distance range
